Subject: Computer Software
POLICY
Library Systems is responsible for handling any installation of software on Libraries' computing equipment. This is necessary for Library Systems staff to maintain inventory of required licensing information for state auditing purposes, as well as to provide appropriate support.
Software for staff machines must be related to the job responsibilities of the person(s) using the machine. When in doubt of whether to fill a request, Library Systems will consult a staff member's supervisor.
Library Systems will delete software if the user is found to be in violation of legitimate licensing agreements. Repeated occurrences of license violations will be reported to the offender's supervisor.
Library Systems will not support any software installed by end users including home-grown applications. In the event of a severe problem with unsupported software, Library Systems will make efforts to fix the computer as time permits. A replacement computer is not guaranteed, and Library Systems will not reinstall the unsupported software.
Software will be stored in Library Systems. Printed documentation will be left with the user at the discretion of Library Systems.
